MADNESS PHOTOGRAPHY

Madness Photography started as an official, serious company in 1998.
But the history of Madness Photography started long before. Onno “Berserk” Wieringa, founder and owner of Madness Photography, has been a self-taught photographer since he was a little kid and started to take pictures of something he loved since the day he was born: motorcycles!

His motorcycles
After he finished high school, he started working for various Harley-Davidson shops, where he learned to work on bikes. At the age of 17, he already owned two Triumph’s and when he was eighteen he had four Triumphs and a Suzuki GT 750. After getting his drivers license, when he was eighteen, the Triumphs all had to go and were replaced by a bike that he had wanted since the day he was born; a Harley-Davidson. This bike is still in his life; it’s an FXE-F 1200 Super Glide Fat Bob, which has been rebuild and modified endlessly and ridden for many miles. Going everywhere on the bike, there was one thing he always had in his pocket; his camera!
At the age of 23 he started drag racing, and he and his team named “Midnight Madness”, raced the bike on all the major races and drag strips all over Europe. He has competed in many classes; starting with the Street bikes, than Ultimate Street Bike, Super Stock, Pro-Stock, and then finally in the fastest gas burning class; Top Gas! Also again taking thousands of photo’s of everything interesting, at every racetrack! Being a racer for more than 18 years gave him insight in the world of fast bikes, and he’s still involved in the world of drag racing as a helper/mechanic and of course photographer / reporter.

NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON STREET™ TAKES CENTER ICE AT X GAMES ASPEN

NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON STREET™ TAKES CENTER ICE AT X GAMES ASPEN
Dark Custom™ Bike Poised to Star at ESPN’s Flagship Action Sports Event

ASPEN, Colo. – The world’s hottest new motorcycle hits the ice today at X Games Aspen. Harley-Davidson – one of the newest X Games sponsors – is teaming with ESPN to feature motorcycle ice racing as an X Games Aspen exhibition sport. Following Harley-Davidson’s customer-centric approach, fans will help decide if the sport is extreme enough for future X Games winter events via social media.

Reigning AMA Pro Grand National champion Brad Baker takes a break to conduct interviews during a special motorcycle ice racing exhibition that will be featured tonight during ESPN’s X Games Aspen coverage. Part of a Harley-Davidson sponsorship, fans will help decide if the sport is extreme enough for future X Games winter events by using the hashtag #XGIceRace on Twitter.

Taking center ice for the exhibition is the all-new Harley-Davidson Street™ 750 – the first all-new motorcycle platform from the company in 13 years. The new motorcycle will be available in dealerships nationwide later this year.

“While the Street was designed to handle urban environments, its instant throttle response, lean chassis and super-low seat height make it perfect to ride anywhere,” said Dino Bernacchi, Director of North American Marketing Communications, Harley-Davidson Motor Company. “We modified several Street motorcycles by adding steel screws to the tires and let the world’s best flat track racers tear up the ice at high speeds. We think fans will be captivated by the extreme attitude and beauty they’ll see on the ice.”

The Street 750 from Harley-Davidson features the all-new liquid-cooled Revolution X™ engine, designed to match the demands of stop-and-go traffic. The new engine is housed in a narrow and lean chassis built for agility, with a new suspension and a broad handlebar sweep that provides confidence and maneuverability when managing tight turns and fast moves. It also has a premium, minimalist style that serves as a blank canvas for riders to customize.

Fans to Decide if Sport will Stick
Harley-Davidson will showcase the ice racing exhibition during ESPN’s X Games Aspen today, Jan. 23. Fans will influence whether the sport comes to future X Games winter events by sharing their comments via the Twitter hashtag #XGIceRace. ESPN will share comments from fans during the last day of the games. Learn more at www.darkcustom.com/iceracing.
